Scandinavian windows are systems with a completely different construction compared to those known in Poland for years. Unlike traditional windows found in most European countries, Scandinavian windows open outwards, making them highly weather-resistant systems, especially during strong winds. What other advantages do these window systems offer?

Why are Scandinavian windows opened outwards?

The characteristic feature that most sets Scandinavian windows apart from classic European systems is their method of opening. These windows open outwards. This primarily stems from the weather conditions prevalent in the Scandinavian Peninsula, located in the northern part of Europe. These areas are exposed to strong and gusty winds for most of the year. These challenging conditions led manufacturers to develop windows that utilize the force of the wind to press the window sash tightly against the frame. Hence the idea for window systems that open differently from windows in the rest of the European continent. In addition to Scandinavia, these windows are also often used in the United Kingdom, where similar windy conditions prevail.

Is it worth choosing Scandinavian windows?

Apart from the entirely different opening system, Scandinavian windows from Plastixal also feature the ability to rotate 180 degrees. This is a significant advantage that allows easy access to the exterior side of the window. As a result, cleaning and maintenance of the windows are much easier.

Windows that open outwards are very airtight and significantly reduce heat loss from the rooms. Therefore, homeowners who prioritize having an energy-efficient building often opt for them.

Installing Scandinavian windows also saves space. Opening the window does not require removing and rearranging objects on the windowsill. This makes it a functional and practical solution, particularly in smaller spaces where every additional square meter of space is highly valuable.
